PJ Woos 7th in Newsletter

A name that has been tested. Competence and ability. Experience and a good track record. Vision.

In a full color newsletter, Congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia cites these qualities in hopes of convincing the people of the new seventh district of the Province of Cebu to vote him as their first congressman.

PJ, in the newsletter, says he hopes to continue the legendary “Tatak Garcia” brand of service exemplified by his father, former Governor, Congressman and Deputy Speaker Pablo “Pabling” Garcia and three-term Governor and now Congresswoman for the third district Gwendolyn Garcia.

He also cited his track record as two-term congressman of the third congressional district, where he is remembered for the major overhaul of infrastructure such as the concreting of the Barili-Aloguinsan Road and the Asturias-Tuburan Road, Level-3 water systems in Tuburan, Toledo, Aloguinsan and Barili, among others.

In the newsletter, the One Cebu candidate for congressman also spells out a clear vision and program of action for the new seventh district.

It’s the age of Facebook, the calendar seems to be saying.

Departing from the usual “pang-kalendaryo” look, PJ Garcia’s 2016 calendar features a family “usie” (a group “selfie”; pronounced “uss-ee”) taken during a lazy Sunday at their  beachfront home in Bitoon, Dumanjug.

PJ, his wife Karen and children Sofia, Gabriela and Bluey are all smiles, while one-year-old Jack seems to be wondering what the fuss is all about.

PJ on LP’s harassment: “Walang forever”

Congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, One Cebu candidate for the new seventh district of Cebu, speaks before more than 300 sitio leaders of the nine barangays of Alegria, Cebu.

“Walang forever.”

Former Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, One Cebu candidate for congressman in the new seventh district of Cebu, made reference to a popular social media hashtag and movie in warning Liberal Party officials on their “suspension spree” against officials identified with One Cebu.

Speaking before more than 300 One Cebu leaders representing the nine barangays of Alegria in southern Cebu, Garcia said: “Sulod sa 18 ka tuig nga ang mga Garcia naglingkod sa Kapitolyo, wala’y bisa’g usa sa among mga kaatbang ang among gi-suspenso. Wa mi manggukod.” (“In the 18 years that it was a Garcia who was governor, we suspended not even one of our political opponents. We did not use our position to run after our opponents.”)

Garcia had earlier complained that the Liberal Party in the province had gone on a “suspension spree” against political opponents especially in the new seventh district. This month, five municipal councilors in Alegria, identified with One Cebu, were suspended by the provincial board.  Earlier this year, the provincial board also suspended his brother, Dumanjug mayor Nelson Garcia.

Pablo John urged One Cebu leaders in Alegria to stand up to the LP’s bullying, and unite to ensure the party’s victory in the municipality, in the new seventh district, and in the province.

He said the victory of One Cebu would end the LP’s harassment and dirty political tactics.

Predicting victory in the May 2016 elections, Pablo John made reference to another popular social media hashtag.  “Sa tamang panahon,” he said.
